Hello Novicers, this time I will discuss the difference between a computer or laptop called Notebook and Netbook. I discussed this time because sometimes there are still many people who do not understand the difference between Notebooks and Netbooks, including my friend who sometimes asks to help choose Notebook but apparently what he wants is a Netbook, hmmmmmm.

In this day and age it is indeed different from the old days where the name of the computer was a computer whose operation was limited, limited in the sense that it could not be carried anywhere easily. To use a computer, we usually have to stay at home, office, or in the lab. Unlike the present era with its era of mobility as a measure of the success of a product where the development of portable computers or laptops is also growing.

The Difference Aspects Between Notebook and Netbook

The Difference Aspects Between Notebook and Netbook

At present there are various types of portable computers available and most are divided into two types, namely Notebook and Netbook. Well, even though both are portable computers or laptops, but both have some differences that are usually used to classify whether the product is Notebook or Netbook. For that, let’s just discuss the aspects that are often used as a comparison as follows:

Weight in Kilograms

Weight in Kilograms

1. In terms of the weight of the device, basically Notebooks and Netbooks have a clear difference in the weight of each of them. Netbooks usually weigh no more than 2 Kg, while Notebooks that have a larger body will certainly have a weight greater than 2Kg too. Although at this time many vendors have begun to carry and release Notebook products with thin and light bodies so that sometimes for weight also still can not be used as the main benchmark as a differentiator between Notebook and Netbook.

Portable PC Screen Dimension

2. Next is the size and dimensions of the screen, dimensions for Notebooks are 12 inches up (usually between 12 to 17 inches) while for Netbooks they have screen dimensions ranging from 12 inches down (generally between 7 to 12 inches).
But along with the times also for netbooks themselves have also begun to experience changes in the screen dimensions due to developments from the world of smartphones, nowadays there are already circulating smartphones that have screen sizes between 7 to 10 inches called tabs or tablets. Therefore in today’s era netbooks are generally portable computers / laptops that have screen dimensions between 10 and 12 inches.

3. Differences in terms of processors. From this aspect the difference between a notebook and a netbook will be very pronounced in the field of performance. This is because the difference in processor used between notebooks and netbooks is very different. If the Notebook uses a Processor that has nearly equal capabilities and even equivalent to a PC assembly that serves to provide maximum performance like an assembled PC but is still easy to carry around by professionals then for netbooks it is usually made for socialites with entertainment needs or for work purposes which does not require maximum performance.
If you are accustomed to using a laptop to work then you will certainly be very easy to distinguish the quality of processor performance because the performance on the netbook will be very slow rather than the notebook.

RAM or Random Access Memory for Laptops

4. RAM. In terms of RAM the difference is if the netbook usually has no more than 4GB of RAM while the Notebook has more RAM and even up to 128GB. In terms of RAM type, usually RAM for netbooks is RAM type planting or onboard and does not have an additional slot so sometimes we cannot upgrade RAM as we want.

5. Hard Disk Capacity, Notebook currently has a storage capacity of up to the size of a Terrabyte while netbooks usually have the largest default hard disk capacity is 320GB and there is also a storage memory which is onboard memory which also makes us unable to upgrade memory capacity.

Notebook DVD Rom

6. The Exsistence of DVD Rom, Well in terms of this we can also make it as a comparison to determine whether it is called a notebook or netbook although this also cannot be used as an accurate reference because even though most notebooks have a DVD Rom but with the development of many vendors -Vendor that removes the slim notebook removes this DVD Rom facility. While for the netbook itself, the DVD Rom was not installed because to get a slim and small body on the netbook, the DVD Rom was an obstacle to that aspect.

Now that’s some aspects that you can use to distinguish whether the laptop belongs to the class of notebooks or netbooks. But be sure to examine the 6 aspects above because along with the times there are some aspects that become less accurate to distinguish between the two. Well, hopefully this little information can help you choose and distinguish between notebooks and netbooks. As usual, if you have suggestions or ideas, please submit via the contact us form.
